Parasites and Weight Loss
Category: Health & Wellness
Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS, and author of the New York Times bestseller “the Fat Flush diet”, was recently interviewed about the latest update to her previous work and offered five insights into why many of us struggle to lose weight.
Parasites and Weight Loss.
“Dr. Gittleman advises that parasites could be sabotaging our weight loss efforts. She indicates that parasites are a hidden epidemic that can trigger / influence weight gain, sugar cravings, anxiety, and sleeplessness. Adding to this, it can also have a profoundly negative impact on our digestive systems.”
Some areas she advises we pay particular attention to when it comes to parasite exposure are-
- restaurant dining
- raw and undercooked foods (especially pork and sushi)
- drinking tap water
Parasitic infections have been a focal point within her research and claims they can do much more than simply stall weight loss. Dr. Gittleman considers these to be powerfully immunosuppressive agents which deplete / consume our nutrients, produce toxic by-products, and can cause immense damage to our cells and tissues. She is also quick to point out that they are quite toxic to our liver and may cause biliary stones.
Sign and symptoms worth paying attention to-
- sugar cravings
- weight gain
- food sensitivities
*Addressing a potential parasitic infection through an expanded GI panel is something she recommends. A link to the full interview between Valerie Burke, MSN and Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS is listed below.
