Food Sensitivities and Weight Loss
Category: Health & Wellness
Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS, and author of the New York Times bestseller “the Fat Flush diet”, was recently interviewed about the latest update to her previous work and offered insights into why many of us struggle to lose weight.
Food Sensitivities and Weight Loss
In this interview, Dr. Gittleman briefly addresses food sensitivities as a hidden culprit when it comes to weight gain. In her most recent book ‘The New Fat Flush Plan’ she estimates that nearly 60-80 percent of people are sensitive to one or more foods.
“Food sensitivities are one of the most common causes of weight gain through fluid retention and through overeating brought on by cravings.” –
Listed below are a handful of symptoms and considerations that may be associated with / or indicate a food sensitivity (as with the previous article on ‘Serotonin and Weight Loss’, there is a more exhaustive list of symptoms associated with food sensitivities; these are just a few of the more recognizable ones) -
• Blurred Vision
• Rapid Heart Beat
• Indigestion / Bloating
She makes clear that identifying food sensitivities can be difficult because unlike a true allergy, sensitivities can many times cause delayed reactions.
Common offenders include: wheat, dairy, sugar, and yeast; but, Dr. Gittleman states that although these account for up to 80 percent of food reactions / sensitivities, almost any food can be reactive.
This article took us astray briefly from the main points that Dr. Gittleman outlined during her interview with GreenMed Info / Valerie Burke, MSN. However, food sensitivities are clearly outlined in her latest book ‘The New Fat Flush Plan’ as a very real and important consideration when it comes to your weight and wellness goals.
